Three years ago, when I was fifteen, I got the greatest experience in my life.
During my summer vacation, I visited an American family and lived there for one month. we call it "Home stay" The family`s name is Wisler. There were mother, father, and two boys. Elder brother`s name is Ethan, and younger brother`s name is Alex.
Wisler family is so characterized. For instance, they are vegetarian. In that summer, I didn`t eat meat. Every lnch box contained vagetables or sandwiches. That was little hard for me.
And they living with a natural state. The back side of their house was golf cause, so many animals like rabbits and birds etc comes. They also has many pets, four cats and one dog and snake ! And sometime, they go out without shoes. I have never seen such a wild life.
Living with other language and culture showed me so many things. And there was no Japanese, so I couldn`t depend any thing. If I get some problem, I had to slove it with thinking and doing myself. It was not easy, but it was so fun and excited ! It was only one month, but I got many experiences and knowledge. And it change my personality.
Thinking and doing myselg has a big meaning. If you depend everything on otherone, You might not get anything.
What a great experience!! I think doing things on your own is the best way to learn, because, like you say, there is nobody else to depend on. Living with a vegetarian family, while you are a meat eater yourself, is challenging, I can imagine. :)
